The Science Fair Club is a fantastic opportunity for students to investigate scientific ideas and bring their creativity to life. This club allows students to express their innovative ideas and views through presentations. Students can come up with their creative ideas for an experiment they shall present, primarily focusing on science-related topics. This club provides students with the opportunity to research and study a specific topic. The topics are completely up to the student’s decision, allowing students to get in-depth with a topic that they favor. This club is beneficial to students as it allows them to improve their research/presentation skills. Not only that, other students can acknowledge and admire the presentation created by the members in the club, allowing the members to feel pride in their work. Furthermore, there is a date specifically dedicated for students to present their work (2/27). More excitingly, there is a voting system that allows students to cast their vote for the board they think is the most flattering. This allows different participants of the Science Fair to earn certificates and potentially earn medals! These certificates and medals can be a great item to acquire and a meaningful reminder of your experience at Ryan. Meetings are held every Wednesday (except for holidays/breaks) and students will have to stay till 3:40 PM after school.

Joining the Science Fair Club is a great way to have a merriment experience, as well as a feeling of accomplishment in your work. The Science Fair Club is a great club for students who appreciate working in teamwork or partnership, and a straightforward start. For instance, students are motivated to work in groups. Students can partner up with their friends or classmates which can form deeper bonds. Because of this, students can work efficiently and entertain each other with their presence. To add on, this club allows students to fill out worksheets regarding their topic as preparation, making it easier to have a strong foundation for the experiments. The mentor, Mrs. Kenn will give class time for students to work with their partners or by themselves, which wouldn’t make this club feel like extra homework.

This club is marvelous because students will find content from researching and learning about the topic they find intriguing. After the students finish planning their experiment and their research, students can take the initiative to start the experiment. Due to this club being very adaptable and open, the students can find enjoyment in doing the experiments due to the fact that they are in control of it. Students will be trained to submit work on time and work at their own pace, which is great practice for students who struggle with time management and productivity. Furthermore, this club is free of pressure but is best suited for students interested in improving their management skills or those who would like to conduct experiments and research. Here’s a little insight from a student who had previously worked at the Science Fair. They stated “The Science Fair Club is a great way to stay social with your friends and classmates” and “I learned new knowledge I never learned before! This club is magnificent, my friends came over to my house to experiment and it felt like an adventure.”, “People walked around voting each exhibit based on creativity, accuracy, and presentation.”, “I got to skip class to work at the gymnasium to present my board! I got the chance to see other people’s projects and it was a blast.”. Johnny Chen elaborates further on the amazing qualities of the Science Fair Club. He said that joining the science fair improved his critical thinking skills and taught him how to schedule his work properly. He said that the mentor was very cooperative and allowed him to achieve much more in his presentation. Thus, stating how the Science Fair club made his middle school experience much more memorable and delightful since he got the chance to spend more time with his friends. Overall, joining the Science Fair club is something that everybody at Ryan should consider. Achievements, memories, and friendships await you!
